The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony will not be silenced by COVID-19! Let’s keep the music going – join us for the 2020 Virtual Experience!

The 2020 Fall semester will be unlike any other in our 40-year history! The Virtual Experience will provide our members with different enriching activities and projects to connect, engage and improve musicianship. Weekly virtual group sessions will include:

·       Musicianship development & technique

·       Digital recording training

·       Composition workshops and projects

·       Conducting clinics

·       Concerto preparation workshops

·       Guest artists, speakers and clinics

·       Composer spotlights

In addition, students will have weekly practice work assigned. They will be encouraged to submit digital recordings of their practice for one-on-one feedback from Dr. Stewart each week! Two to three pieces will be prepared this semester by each student. The individual recordings will be combined and edited to create virtual performances by the entire CVYS orchestra!

The 2020 Virtual Experience is different but beneficial in ways that face-to-face meetings don’t allow. Dr. Stewart will be able to focus on each student individually to greatly improve musicianship and technique. Instruction in composition and conducting will be possible and will be supported by guest artists from across the country, viable through the virtual format.
